Well done Ashton on winning every race!
Friday 27th Apr Chadderton (at Crompton pool) AWAY
1st Ashton 60pts
2nd Chadderton 47pts
This was our second Junior Gala of the year and our second gala in a row at a 25yard pool. The pool conditions were poor and for some of our younger swimmers it was clear that the choppy conditions and bar / slippy surface etc did have an effect.
After a suspect start to the night, where we managed to win the first two races (although we did our best to lose them), the night did improve.
Once again the boys lead the way and we did not lose a single all boys race all night. There were comfortable wins for some, but the 10/us did have some tough races and some strong swims from Robert Gourley and Sam Bennett ensured we picked up 3 wins out of 3.
The girls had a much tougher night, picking up only 4 wins from 12, but still there were some encouraging performances from many.
It was an easy win in the end as we took a lead into the mixed races, where we only lost 3 of the 12. In the end to score 60pts was a good result and it could prove very important at the end of the season when total points are added.
Leading winner on the night was Joseph McCue, who is having an excellent season, whilst Amy Shaw clocked the most p.bs with 4.
Special mention, for Kavita Chauhan swimming in her first proper gala for the club. She swam in two races and whilst nervous to begin with, she really enjoyed the night and did not put a foot wrong in either race.
Swimmer of the match though was Andrew Galley. Andrew secured two victories taking the anchor leg and was clearly the fastest swimmer in the pool on the night.
